Privacy Policy
Effective 20 July 2026 · Iris Glasses AI is operated by Irisware (“we”, “us”).
The short version: Iris sends your voice (and, when the camera is on, what the camera sees) to AI providers in real time to generate answers — that is the product working, not a side channel. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for advertising, and the app’s data switches are in plain sight in Settings.
What the app processes, and where it goes
- Voice and camera during a session. While a session is active, microphone audio and camera frames (from your glasses or your iPhone) stream to Google Gemini to produce spoken answers. When you use Translate, speech audio streams to OpenAI to produce captions. Each provider processes this data under its own terms. When you turn the camera off in-session, video stops and the glasses recording LED goes dark; when you end the session, streaming stops.
- API keys you enter. If you bring your own keys, they are stored in your phone’s secure storage (iOS Keychain) and are sent only to their own provider. We never receive them.
- Hosted access (optional). If we enable hosted access for your email, you sign in with a magic link and your sessions relay through our server so you don’t need keys. We meter usage (token counts and cost) per account to operate the monthly allowance. Your email address is stored to operate your account.
- Memory (optional, hosted accounts). If the Memory switch is on, Iris may keep durable preferences (for example, your preferred units) to personalize future sessions. Memory is stored encrypted on our server, but it is not end-to-end encrypted — the service operator can technically access it, and relevant memories are shared with the AI provider during your sessions to do their job. You can switch Memory off at any time, and Delete all memories erases our copy and the provider-side stores.
- Feedback. When you tap Send Feedback, your message and any attachments (screenshots, voice notes) you chose to include are sent to us. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
- Anonymous usage beacon. On launch the app can send a tiny anonymous beacon (an app-start count and which connection mode is in use) tied to a random per-install identifier — no personal data, no conversation content, never your keys. Switch it off in Settings → Advanced → “Share anonymous usage”.
What we do not do
- No selling of data, no advertising, no third-party trackers on this website or in the app.
- No background recording: audio and video flow only during a session you started, and stop when you stop it.
- No access to your Meta account — glasses connectivity is handled by Meta’s own Wearables toolkit on your phone.
Retention and deletion
- Hosted accounts: usage metering rows and your email are kept while your account is active. Email hello@iris-ai.app to have your account and its data removed.
- Memory: deletable in one tap in Settings → Memory, or on request.
- Feedback: kept as long as needed to act on it.
- Bring-your-own-keys usage: we hold nothing — your data flows directly between the app and the provider you configured.
Your choices, in one place
- Camera on/off toggle during any session (LED reflects it).
- Memory on/off + Delete all — Settings → Memory.
- Anonymous usage beacon on/off — Settings → Advanced.
- Every key, sign-in, and connection option — Settings, nothing hidden.
Children
Iris Glasses AI is not directed at children under 13 and should not be used by them.
